Regional Urantia Conference - Georgia
01-Dec-2017 ~ 03-Dec-2017
Georgia Conference 2017
December 1-3, 2017 at the Macon/Mercer Hilton Garden Inn.
Religious peace – brotherhood – can never exist unless all religions are willing to completely divest themselves of all ecclesiastical authority and fully surrender all concept of spiritual sovereignty.God alone is spirit sovereign. You cannot have equality among religions without having religious wars unless all religions consent to the transfer of all religious sovereignty to some superhuman level, to God himself. 134:4.4-5 (1487.1-2)
The 2017 Georgia Conference is designed to address the question of how Urantia Book readers can discern the foundations of and teachings on the evolving Christianity and and effectively intervene in the discussion that is defining itself as the emergent church.
Long time and experienced readers, Dana and Dennis Kersey with Lea Fishburn’s assistance are interested in exploring the topic, “Emerging Christianity, Then and Now,” with fellow readers. A conference is being planned for December 1-3, 2017 at the Macon/Mercer Hilton Garden Inn.
Mercer University has a long tradition of combining religion and the demands of following Jesus. In recent history the university withdrew from the Southern Baptist Convention over issues of race and academic freedom.A “Peace Fountain” in Tatnall Square Park marks past achievements in racial harmony. Also on Friday evening, the Mercer Singers will be performing “Lessons in Carols” at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near the campus. This group was featured with a PBS special and last year performed at Carnegie Hall.
Dennis Kersey will examine “Interfaith Influences” on the development of early Christianity with a well documented PowerPoint presentation.
Dana Kersey will lead the group in a “shared inquiry” discussion and a Lecta Divina reading of gathered quotes from literature and The Urantia Book.
David and Marilyn Kulieke,of the First Society of Chicago are coming to offer a national and international perspective on our theme and to encourage study group formation in Georgia.David is chair of the Education Committee for the General Council of the Fellowship.
