    Dear Fellow Travelers,

Many of you may have heard Joel Andrews play his harp or listened to some of his meditative recordings.

I have second-hand information that Joel died last week but cannot find an obituary. I'll update as I find more information, but wanted to share this link which has a nice biography of Joel that is at least 15 years old, but lovely.

    Good morning everyone,

Thank you so much Paula for Joel’s website; what a gifted artist with the harp! I kept thinking of Jesus as I was listening to him playing his harp.

I thought that some of you might like to see this video on the refine art of harp making:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8j3JfOP1tQ

What a beautiful being of Light he personified as he graced us with his music; a taste of what is to come…

    Sending Love to everyone,

    Diane Lebrecque

This is from his son Michael Loring Andrews' Facebook page...... dated March 20 2019

My father, Joel Andrews has died today. He was born in 1928 to Loring Andrews and Florence Tuckerman-Andrews-Hyde. He was a world renowned harpist, channel and healer. This last stroke robbed him of brain function but still he waited till my sister Myra Krien and I had a chance to say goodbye, and then promptly left. Memories flooding. No other details to tell now. I just wanted to let all who knew him know.

    BIOGRAPHY of Mr. JOEL ANDREWS

"A most remarkable virtuoso and musician"

    - The San Francisco Chronicle

    "…skill, musicianship and sensitivity."

    - The New York Times

Joel Andrews is a harpist, composer, author, and he was the pioneer music healer in America. He tours and presents concerts and workshops worldwide. Captivating international audiences with his exquisite music for over 35 years, he has produced 33 recordings, including collaborations with Paul Horn and the Paul Winter Consort. He was presented in Town Hall, New York, with critical acclaim and has soloed with the San Francisco Symphony under Arthur Fiedler. He has appeared at many conferences, including The World Symposium on Humanity in Amsterdam and The Body, Mind, Spirit Expo in London.  Mr. Andrews has also recorded over 3,000 sessions for individual transformation and his CDs, tapes and writings, distributed world-wide, are used to support many modalities of therapy. They have provided balance, harmony, healing, and enlightenment. 500 testimonials reveal the unbelievable variety of the therapeutic effects of his beautiful music.

Since ancient times the healing powers of the harp have been recognized and in 1971 Joel Andrews began translating spontaneously the music he was hearing in higher dimensions, taking this capability to new heights. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, hearing his music lifts one into higher planes of spiritual ecstasy. One is left feeling a deep stillness at the core of being, new-found freedom, an expectancy of fulfillment. Under his gifted and inspired hands the harp becomes a messenger of peace, harmony, upliftment, and joy. In his unique seminars and lectures in 11 countries he has given thousands of people keys to their highest potential as well as blessings of encouragement to ease the stresses of life.

Joel Andrews performed on his harp, playing both completed already-composed pieces as well as on-the-spot improvisations at one of the major pre-2000 AD conferences.

Can anyone help me focus that more specifically ?   Was it Snowmass, CO    '90    (where we enjoyed a performance by John Denver)        or     perhaps      Flagstaff, AZ or elsewhere ?

I believe Joel was associated closely or indirectly with the Divine Light Mission of Elizabeth Claire Prophet  (and her late husband, Mark) in that some of the diagrammatic representations on his (record) albums displayed the distinctive "Violet Flame."     I don't have direct access to his testimony, and I owned one or two of his LP records several decades ago, which, if I recall accurately, shared some statements by or about him affirming that in his music-making (which I generally enjoyed)----whether in "composed" compositions or in free-flowing improvisational playing (but especially the latter)-----Joel (or someone listening to him) either thought or imagined that he was more-or-less directly expressing musical phrases and melodies of higher frequencies or registers from, let's freely or indefinitely use the term, "celestial' levels or ranges or even personalities (beings).     Again, perhaps Joel himself made no such implications (not real "claims" as such), however, I would appreciate it if anyone reading these comments about Joel could throw any clearer, more definitive, or illuminating light on these decades-ago impressions and half-memories.   For example, might anyone actually still have and have access to an LP or other form of recorded album of his playing which might feature printed information on the cover that could better illuminate these conjectures ?        Thank you--------David Glass

    Hi Friends,

Here is the link to Joel site:  http://www.harpofgold.com/

His CD that we sold the most of through The Good Cheer Catalogue (remember that?), was the one entitled Iridescence.  It was absolutely beautiful!

I’m pretty sure Joel performed for us in Flagstaff.

    Love…Paula

    Hello again, everyone,

Thanks to all of you for all this helpful and memory-stimulating information.

Yes, I would think it was at the 1981 Snowmass CO conference that I heard

Joel Andrews perform for the first time and either then or later through the

(unforgettable) Good Cheer Catalog ordered "Iridescence."  Then, later,

perhaps at a New Age bookstore in Florida or back again through Good

Cheer, I acquired Violet Flame, which is the one I remember by name---still,

all these scenes and events have gathered (for me) about themselves a

misty aura of a near-legendary era.

The 1981 Snowmass Conference at the time seemed to me and to some of

my friends an era- or epoch-opening gathering-----surpassing in simple size,

attendance, and altitude (taken in either sense)---the more down-to-earth,

conferences I had attended and that had inspired me earlier (1975) in Los

Angeles--at Kendall College in Evanston, IL, (1976?)---and at Lake Eufalla

    Resort, OK, (1976?)

I never personally encountered Joel himself again since I was not in attendance

at the UC Santa Barbara (1983?) (Remembrance Supper?) event.

    With Gratitude !

    David Glass
