Dear Members and Friends,
We’ve experienced a long period of social isolation and it’s time to get together! The Urantia Society of Greater New York is hosting a Spring/post-Easter social In Central Park behind the Metropolitan Museum. Hopefully there will be no new Covid group gathering restrictions, and if the weather cooperates it would be a blessing to spend time with old friends, make new ones, and share a meal and some thoughts about our revelatory understanding of the meaning of the resurrection. We hope you will join us.
Place: Meet under the tree in the back on the north side of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park.
Date: Saturday, April 23 rd (rain date Sunday, April 24th)
Time: 1:00 PM
Etc. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, and a bag lunch. USGNY will provide wine and dessert. Bathrooms are available in the museum.
RSVP: nicknyny1@gmail.com by Friday, April 15th.
We will contact you by email in the event of a cancellation.
PS: Please invite others who might like to join us – along with an RSVP request so
we’ll have enough wine! (Directions below.)
Directions: Getting to the Picnic Location: If you are taking the
Subway take the IRT Lexington Line to 86 Street and walk West on 86 Street to
Central Park. The location of our picnic will be in Central Park directly in back of
the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Be sure to enter Central Park on East 84
Street and Fifth Avenue and walk on the path along the side of the Museum
that goes up a small hill a short distance until you get to the paved road which is
straight ahead.
There is a refreshment stand right there on the right side of the road where you
can purchase food and cold beverages. Turn left on the paved road and walk
along the right side of the road for a short distance and look on your right for our
group just beyond the large statue of Alexander Hamilton. You may call my cell
phone (917.701.9033) and I will guide you to our area if you do not
immediately spot our group. Please print out these directions and bring it with
you.
Rest Rooms Nearby: The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a 4 minute short
walk from our picnic area location which is in the back of the museum and you
may use the restrooms there which are quite nice. You do not have to pay the
museum admission fee if you use the door on the left of the large staircase as
you face the Museum main entrance. Walk in the door and then walk past the
coat check area. Then turn right for the rest rooms a few steps away on your
right.
Much less expensive parking a very short walking distance from
the Met Museum between East 84 Street and East 79 Street:
