what does Our inner spirit do for us?

OUR INNER SPIRIT ARRIVES in us with a plan to promote the growth of our souls. The plan has been designed specifically for each of us.

Rather than passively waiting for truth to drift into our consciousness, our inner spirit works tirelessly to present us with insights and urges that suggest the realities and satisfactions of living a life that is spiritually-oriented rather than materially-oriented.

Our inner spirit functions as a part of us, not as a separate person. It will be a part of us forever if that is our deep desire.

Spiritual growth for this lifetime is very much fueled by our acceptance of, and our following through to achieve, the suggestions, urges, and longings presented by our inner spirit.

Our inner spirit is with each of us to be our mentor and spiritual parent liaison. If we desire, we will be led into harmony with all that is divine. This teaching and leading can all be enjoyable because our inner spirit works by the attraction of:

  • Goodness (not by compulsion or rules)
  • Charm and graciousness (not by demands or administered discipline)
  • Joy, purpose, and fulfillment (not by shame or admonishment)

Our inner spirit works quietly and unobserved in our minds to benefit us and will work for our spiritualization constantly even while being ignored.

What does our inner spirit work to accomplish?

  • Trust, faith, love, and friendship in our relationship with our inner spirit.
  • Loving, serving, and respectful relationships with other persons.
  • Loyalty to higher values.
  • Feeling loved and loving others.
  • Respecting the gift of nature.

In fact, our inner spirit knows everything we really need and how to help us get it.

Our inner spirit works within us when we assent, by our decisions and with many repetitions of decisions, to the changes in us which our inner spirit has engineered. No change occurs without our agreement; in fact it is we who choose and implement the change.

How Do We Grow Spiritually?

Spiritual Adventures are activities you can try for yourself to energize your experience of spiritual reality and foster your spiritual growth.

Now that our inner spirit  has been described to you, express how you feel about this intimate friendship in a letter to your inner spirit.

  • Get to know this spiritual self who lives your life with you.
  • Ask questions if you wish.

Spend as long as you like writing the letter. When you have finished your letter, sit quietly for a while. Then write a letter from your inner spirit back to you.

  • Allow your inner spirit to express feelings and hopes to you through your writing.
